A Snippet of Sunshine

Freddy and I have traded colds over the last week. He kicked off the sniffles in commiseration with the dreary, rainy weather on Monday, while mine seems to have come on just as the sun came out on Friday. At least I can bask on our balcony with the sun on my chest while using up all the toilet paper as tissues (still have yet to find a single tissue box in any of the local grocery stores… lol).

I’m currently curled up in our massive bed in our tiny bedroom watching Freddy put together our new Ikea dresser. Obi has emerged from his location beneath the bed to lay next to me; he’s curled up into a tight ball trying to ignore both the buzzing fly that made its way in through the window and the noise of pedestrians walking by our window on the street below. He’s still quite the growly apartment guardian!

Besides the sunshine emergence, this week’s highlight has been the first of our Ikea deliveries and the removal of our school dorm furniture. Goodness, it’s good to feel like we’re living in a real home again and to have a reasonably comfortable couch to sit on at the end of the day! Not quite ready to share photos of our place (still waiting on another delivery and until then our suitcases + clothes are spread EVERYWHERE) but here’s a taste of the Pinterest board we (I) have been using for inspiration. It’ll be a lot more ikea-y than the vintage farmhouse feel that I adore, but I’m optimistic it’ll feel warm and cozy by the time any of you come to visit.
