Arrival

Hello from Leysin!

Our place is a mess of half-opened suitcases as we await the removal of some campus furniture and the arrival of our soon-to-be-ordered Ikea cart, but every time we hike back up the hill and our apartment building stairs our place starts to feel a tad bit more like home. Obi still hasn’t quite worked out how apartment buildings work and stops at our relevant door on every floor.

Freddy has adjusted to apartment living by refusing to speak any louder than a slight whisper for fear of disturbing our fellow Mont Riant Apartment-dwellers. Obi discovered that our under-bed storage is *just* big enough to make a dark and safe sleeping nook. Shona is working on transferring her Pinterest apartment dreams into an affordable Ikea shopping list (wish her luck!) while hoping for the sun to peak back out from behind the clouds.

We’re very much looking forward to the (hopefully soon) removal of the random 37 cups and saucers pairs that were in our kitchen cupboard, and have plans to trade big spoons for small spoons with one of our colleagues whose apartment reversely utensil-furnished.

So far, we’ve meandered (read: hiked) the same few streets between our building, Mont Riant, and Savoy, home to our offices and the dining hall, many a time, ventured down to the market once for basic necessities, and stayed inside to avoid the rain. Looking forward to more exploratory adventures soon!

Off to make a cup of tea and get cozy on the couch!

Love from Leysin,
Shona, Freddy + Obi
