Late October in London

Ah yes, every time I come here this city reminds me that it could almost feel like home. Sometime about this place feels cozy even in its massive city maze. Clapham, where we’re staying this trip, features expansive parks, a true abundance of off-leash dogs, great food markets, beer and coffeeshops, and a wonderful little family that we happen to be related to. Huge thanks to Em, Matt and family for hosting us!

Thought we’re mostly here to see family, we’ve snuck in plenty of city snacks: a rainbow box of macarons, a steak +stilton pie, sweet potato in both tart and pie forms, a sausage roll, a chai latte, an assortment of fancy ipas, paella (!), and probably many more things that we ate so fast they hardly registered.

In belated celebration of Freddy’s birthday, we watched West Ham crush Tottenham 1-0 in a football match on the east end of London and the enjoyed a special Ottolenghi dinner at home post-match.

Still a few days to savor before we hope on the plane back home to Leysin. Here’s hoping Obi isn’t so enamored with the teenage girls who promised to treat him to lots of play time, popcorn and crisps snacks and all the swiss-chalet-backyard time he could desire that he decides not to come back home with us!

Love from London,
sbmc
