January meanderings

January started slowly as we lingered half-in-half-out of the holiday break, returning to work from the comfort of our own abode due to a new Swiss work-from-home mandate. Obi snuggles kept us cozy between Zoom meetings, and we enjoyed getting to spend more time together over meals shared at home, even though our small apartment isn’t particularly poised for work stations. Freddy did well to get out on the mountain skiing as much as possible (and quite literally “dragged” me up the mountain for a late afternoon ski when we missed the last lift).

We hadn’t left the mountain for quite some time — it tends to be sunny and warm here even when the valley below is covered in cold fog — but managed to find a few blue-sky days to head down into the valley for lake-side adventures. We celebrated Obi’s 4th birthday with a day trip to France, where we stumbled into Yvoire, a beautiful, walled-in medieval city across Lake Geneva. Apparently, this small town is known for its spectacular flower gardens in the spring and summertime — we can’t wait to get back and see the ivy walls in full force!

Feeling grateful for the abundant sunshine, even on the coldest of days. And for a pup who loves swimming and a partner who is always up for an adventure… and staying cozy on the couch with a cup of tea.

Love from Leysin,
sbmc
